Valentine’s Day ♥♥♥

The day for love, romance, chocolates, flowers.

Candy messages, lace doilies. Hearts.

Or, maybe not.

The fact that everything in February is red & pink and hearts & cupid’s arrows surprisingly only 55% of people actually celebrate this day. Which means 45% don’t.

Quite a significant number. And they don’t quite know what to do.

Valentine’s Day has been around for centuries.

And now it can be found around the world, it has evolved into a day of hearts, flowers, etc when the romantically inclined spend serious amounts of time and money preparing for this day. And those not in relationships find themselves left on the side. However, recent years have seen emergence of Galentines Day (February 13) originating in the television show Parks And Recreation to be a celebration of female friends. And a quick visit to online card retailers will show you that cards for your friends, gals or guys are gaining in popularity. The day is slowly moving to being a celebration of love and affection, even if you aren’t in a couple.

So, if you are sitting at home with your feline companion you might feel left out.

Please don’t.

In the spirit of love and companionship celebrate the day with your special feline friend(s) and honor the love that is shared between you and your cat(s). With some tiny changes you can make February 14 a special day for you, and them with a few simple alterations. And here is how to do it.

♥Pink & Red

To fully immerse yourself in the spirit get some pink and red. Plates, sweaters, napkins, flowers. Anything. Red brightens this dull winter season and gives such a cheerful glow that everyone should have some red just lying around for February. And it will be very useful for Chinese New Year when it rolls around next year.

♥Food

Why not make something special, do something different for you and your little companion?
For you why not make, buy or order something that is not your usual dinner. Sushi? Lasagna? Fillet of beef? Pizza with truffles? Here are some great and delicious ideas.
♥♥♥Dessert! And don’t forget a special dessert. Something decadent, luscious, exciting. Stuck for ideas check out these great suggestions.
And to drink? Something pink! Pink lemonade, cherry soda, pink Prosecco!!

♥For Kitty

For the little companion(s) give them a special treat of whatever they love…. but don’t get often. A little can of some more tasty (expensive) cat food, a change from the bulk cans. What about chopped chicken or fish. Sushi. Top with a little pinch of fresh catnip, or parsley and Fluffy will be in heaven.

Stuck for ideas? Take a look at this jaw dropping video from the super creative Jun’s Kitchen to give you some ideas for what you can do. (and what lucky cats!!)

And to round it off, and add to your enjoyment, have some great fun, upbeat, and meaningful music while you are enjoying yourself. Head over to Spotify or Pandora (both free, just sign up) and find some fun Valentines playlists.

Watch a movie. A little sofa time, with Fluffy and Slasher on your lap is surely the highlight of any evening. Make it purrfect watching something entertaining where the star is a cat. Here are some great suggestions. (you can find them at your local library)

Whatever you do, enjoy the day, make it special and shower your little feline with love because you know they are worth it. Each day with a cat brings some magic and unconditional love. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?

♥♥♥♥Enjoy the day!!
