Cooler evenings and darker nights can only mean one thing.
Crafting!
Or baking. (More on that to come later)
Now is the time to start thinking about some serious crafting. Not the stressful, is it going to be beautiful / will it work / I don’t really have a clue what I am doing kind of crafting but the sort that makes you relax, lets you play, releases your inner child.
So, if you love cats ( and really, why else would you be here??) look no further than A Year of Cats….In Hats! Crafts To Make You Smile by Sheila Haynes Raven (published Martingale 2004). This is without doubt the most perfect book if you want to make something kitty.
From the back cover:
Keen on felines? You’ll love adding these lighthearted cat projects to any room! Show off a dozen comical cats in special-occasion hats – these delightful quilts and craft projects make it easy and fun.
Twelve cats in adorable hats find something to celebrate each month of the year.
Eight companion projects feature a glass vase, a serving tray, and an umbrella.
Lighthearted, stylized cats are turned into small quilts or other projects in this fun book. Full of detailed images and very clear instructions even the novice crafter can’t get lost. The book shows you how to do everything with full instructions for techniques and suggest other projects you can make using the pattern templates. If you aren’t up to quilting why not take the patterns and use them as a painting project? Or as a coloring project for young ones who can cut the pieces and make a puzzle? There is so much you can do. And the cats in the hats are so cute. Ardent crafters could work their way through the book and have a new piece of craft art to display seasonally. Or to give as gifts.
This is the perfect book for cat loving quilters looking for some unique and fun projects.
