Animal Knits by Zoe Mellor promises to be a delight for knitters who love animals. Tempting you with “26 fun handknits for children and toddlers” this is perfect for those with little people in their lives who want to dress them in animal decorated items. Zoe Mellor, knitwear designer and wool shop owner, is known for her charming knitting projects for children and babies and this book is no exception. Containing a mixture of sweaters, blankets, hats, booties, animals and pillows the projects are clearly presented, well photographed and have detailed instructions. An ability to knit is required, and there is no indication of ease of patterns, or level of difficulty, so before attempting a project it is adviseable to read it thoroughly.
The big disappointment with this book is there doesn’t appear to be anything with cats on it!!!
What????
There are cute sweaters with dogs, sheep, camels.
Butterflies and birds.
Elephants too.
But no cats.
There are booties that are bunnies and bears.
But no cats.
An animal blanket had the promise of cats.
But no.
A farmyard cushion hinted there might be a moggy lurking.
And once again, no.
But, there is a tiger stripe jacket and a tiger sweater.
So, no house cats, but big cats!!
That roar and snarl, not purr.
And little kids will love wearing a ferocious creature.
If you have a small person in your life this is a great book for some really cute sweaters and knitted items.
