In a world that is full of uncertainty, fear and edginess people resort to the things that give comfort, and are safe and reliable. In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks in Paris police in Belgium locked the city of Brussels down as part of their hunt into potential terrorist activities and closed public transport, schools and locked nervous residents in their homes. In order to enhance security and not compromise safety Belgium police asked residents for social media silence and not to tweet what they saw, or where activities were being carried out. So what did the residents do? After politely re-tweeting the police message they then turned to their cats.
#brusselslockdown was born with the citizens of Belgium turning to what the knew best, and flooded Twitter with tweets about cats coming to the rescue. And the internet did the rest.
That was absolutely fantastic! Needed a good laugh AND that was creative as well. That’s the best way to make the light of such a tense and horrible situation.
Exactly, that is why we love and need cats so much. Thanks for stopping by.
