California Wildfires - How To Help Cats In Need

California is devastated with several wildfires that are causing serious death and destruction. Unlike many fires previously residents didn’t have sufficient notice to evacuate as fires erupted around them – even overnight. The result is many animals have been left behind as their human owners were fleeing with their lives. Those who were able to evacuate with their pets face the stark reality that they won’t have a home to return to. It’s a desperate situation.

If you want to help, due to the urgency and widespread devastation the easiest and most effective way right now is to donate money to some of the organizations that are working to rescue and keep the animals safe. Once the situation stabilizes there will no doubt be opportunities to foster animals but right now (November 12) cash donations are what are needed.

spcaLA have a special response team DART (Disaster Animal Response Team) –  A mobile command post that provides communication and front line veterinary assistance in disasters. They are presently working with LA county to assist in the Wolsey fire. They need cash donations. They also have an Amazon wish list with wanted items.

If you are in the Los Angeles area and have crates or kennels they can be taken to the office of Council Member Bob Blumenfield at 19040 Vanowen St. Reseda, CA 91335.

Humane Society of Ventura County – Is asking for donations. They are taking animals from the Hill and Wolsey fire.

Los Angeles Animal Care Foundation – Donations to will support the relief efforts at several shelters.

UPDATE

Donations for animal rescue in the region of the Camp Fire can be made to North Valley Animal Disaster Group
