Summer is in full swing

Or frantically hurtling to a close – depending on whether you are a glass full or half empty kind of person – and there is so much going on it is possible to miss all of the cat news that has been going on. And there has been a lot. The cat’s have been busy. So here to keep you in touch with what you might have missed is a little round up of cats in the news summer edition.

Apparently the allure of felines is far reaching. Even to Washington DC. Did you know that the CIA tried to train cats? To be spies? Hhmmm??? Given the cat’s disposition for aloofness and extreme independence  (have you ever successfully managed to keep your cat off the counters or table?) it actually makes you wonder if the intelligence community actually has any? One of the most illuminating quotes from the piece. “They found [the cat] would walk off the job when he got hungry,” Really?? Who are these people? Not sure this article is comforting.

Ted Talks, for people who like intelligent talks and brain stimulating thoughts, have complied a list of 4 talks for cat lovers. The talks are on a range of topics and feature some cool cats. Thought provoking and worth watching.

Rally, the cat that ran onto the baseball field, just recently caused a commotion and halted a St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball game as it sauntered and then flew across the field. The game was won with a grand slam, hence the naming of the cat. Lucky Cat!! Lucky team.

Got teeth too!!

Unfortunately, the poor rescuer got the blunt end of the cat’s ire when he was bitten quite badly by Rally. Several times. Hopefully both Rally and rescuer live to see another game.

It’s summer, so why not? Kittentoob has a seriously cute feature on cats with firemen. Nothing like strong guys with little cats. Just reinforces why you need to not only appreciate but love the guys who turn up to save you when there is a fire. Cause you know they will do it for your cat too!

Do you think you know cats? Buzzfeed has a great quiz to find out how well you know cats. Easy! Yet not so much! Go try it and see how well you do.

So what did you get???

Finally onto Bing. Do you know them? They are the beautiful search engine with stunning images featured each day (which you can download! sshhh). On August 8 (International Cat Day………yes we missed it……..website problems…….had to get hammer and nails out…….) they featured a lovely image of a Canada Lynx an endangered species that roams around the far north. Nice job Bing!
