Unless you have been living in a cave or are on the International Space Station you can’t have missed the fact that June is Adopt A Shelter Cat Month.
You know this, don’t you?
If you need anything to help you make your mind up consider that shelters around the US are full to bursting with kittens as this is the kitten month. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of tiny kittens needing homes to go to who will offer you love, companionship, fun, and generally stop your life from being boring.
And the problem isn’t limited to America. In the UK the Cats Protection is reporting they are “struggling” to look after 1600 kittens around the United Kingdom. They are hand rearing the babies around the clock to keep them alive and make them strong.
It is probably the same throughout Europe and the rest of the northern hemisphere where summer has arrived. Armies of un-neutered cats are having mountains of kittens.
So, what can you do to help?
Adopt or foster.
Just go to Google and type in shelter cats. Google’s location finder should present you with animal shelters near you. If not enter your state or country and a list of all the places around you will come up.
You will, more than likely, be overwhelmed with choices.
Beyond the kittens, of course, there are also the youthful cats, mature cats, and elderly cats who also are dumped at shelters and need loving homes. So, if running after a little ball of fur just won’t work, there are plenty of others to choose from.
However, if you can’t adopt there are other options such as fostering, visiting, volunteering, donating, hosting a fundraiser, or taking a coffee, donut or glass of wine to those wonderful people who rescue the kittens, or look after them. Lots of options.
Or buy a t-shirt!
Crazy Shirts is a great Hawaiian staple providing clothing to the the sun and surf set for years and has a line of fun t-shirts. Really cool they have clothing that is dyed in fun alterntaives to the usual sources – wine, beer, chocolate and island crater to name just a few! And they have a cool line of cat t-shirts too.
For Adopt a cat month they have created a line of shirts on just this theme and are giving a portion of the sale to the Hawaiian Humane Society and they sponsor events for animals. What’s not to love?
Shirts are available for women, men and kids and are stylish, for a really good cause and are built to last. Crazy Shirt clothing is well made and lasts through years of wear. Speaking with experience!!!
They ship to the mainland, and around the world, so why not indulge in a little retail therapy for a good cause?
