Japan.
Home of the most interesting cat lovers.
Really.
If you really want to get into how much they love cats you can just surf the internet and find an interesting array of Japanese websites catering to all sorts of tastes and interests.
Have you heard of squishy?
No? Well here it is.
A soft, pastel delightful feel-good object Squishy Japan has a range of these cute softies.
Or these. They are soft, squishy and have a scented aroma. And can be shipped to the US!
Other interesting cat themed items are available from Tokyo Hands which has a dizzying array of items, ships to over 120 countries and has some charming things.
And some that defy explanation
But not everything in Japan is about selling cute cat things. There are serious cat sites also.
Take a visit to Japan Cat Network which is a rescue and shelter site that has helped cats and other animals over a 15 year period. Most notably rescuing animals from the radiation area in Fukushima following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. This organization accepts volunteers and provides accommodation for 3 months so that animal lovers around the world can actually do something. They have a very detailed information page on what to do if you find wild kittens and how to care for them. They also have a wonderful Instagram page with gorgeous pictures of their cats.
While this isn’t a website, it is a page devoted to Gotokuji Temple, the cat temple of Japan, which has the largest collection of maneki neko in the world. Definitely a place to bookmark if you are planning to visit Japan, and see some cats.
If the zen of a Buddhist temple isn’t your thing, and your little Slasher is acting out with his claws and teeth you really want to visit Samurai Age. Drawing on Japanese history this is one seriously impressive place. Not going to spoil it, you need to go and check out this website. Especially if you have an interest in Japan, and love cats.
Go.
Now.
If all of this has inspired you…..just in case you want it.
