How to handle an epidemic? Worrying stuff with so much to think about. Are you prepared? Or do you need to be?

Yes, you do if you are a parent. Human or animal, they all need thinking about.

Somewhere between panic or just being prepared there is a tiny possibility you might forget Slasher and Fluffy’s needs. Yes, highly unlikely but still, life.

Help is here with some tips and suggestions to ride through this health crisis to ensure your little loves are taken care of.

Food
Make sure you have plenty of food for them. At least 1 month. Thankfully most of our kitty friends eat either dry food or canned, and both have long shelf lives. Make sure you have enough for each cat. If you can aim for 2 months of food – but at the very least have 1 month in case there is a quarentine.

Litter
Essential if you have indoor cats. And make sure you have plenty. More is better than less.

Medication
If you have any cats that need special medication ensure you have enough for a month or two. Pills / liquids / syringes.

Emergency Plan
In the event that you are taken ill and possibly unable to care for your cats who will do it? You need a Plan B particularly is you live alone. Designate a person to be responsible if you can’t be – and discuss this with them. Let them know.
Make sure you have clear written instructions about what they eat, when they eat, what likes / dislikes they have. Behavior information – do they hide / like tummy rubs / rip your hands apart.
Veterinarian – name / phone number / address.
