As part of National Poetry Month one of the initiatives to increase enjoyment of poetry is Poem In Your Pocket Day which is the day you are encouraged to carry a poem in your pocket and read and share as you go about your day. School, supermarket, subway, bus, lunch table. What a great way to share something a little different and creative. Or change the conversation from the usual boring politics. This year the day fall on April 26 and so to share some purrfect pawsome poetry here is a little fun ditty by the noted poet (and humorist) Ogden Nash.
So, go have fun!!
The Cat
You get a wife, you get a house,
Eventually you get a mouse.
You get some words regarding mice,
You get a kitty in a trice.
By two a.m. or thereabouts,
The mouse is in, the cat is out.
It dawns upon you, in your cot,
The mouse is silent, the cat is not.
Instead of kitty, says your spouse,
You should have got another mouse.
